bWell/ RSVP Update:
The Rape and Sexual Violence Project (RSVP) is currently running several social groups for female and male survivors of sexual abuse/violence. This includes running a group for the people and carers supporting survivors, who might need their own space to deal with what’s happened. Currently RSVP has several groups meeting twice a month - a Mixed Gender group, a Women’s Evening group and a Women’s Day group. Other groups meet once a month - the Asian Women’s group, the Chinese Women’s group and the Supporter’s group. Group members take part in organised social activities to improve their well-being, increase their confidence and reduce their isolation. The activities have included belly dancing, yoga, bowling, creative art work and visiting historic places in Birmingham (such as the Back to Back Houses). People taking part in RSVP groups have enjoyed socialising safely and building up their trust in others again. Group members tell RSVP that they look forward to meeting other people who have been through similar experiences and to trying new things. The groups really have given many people a new lease of life!
