Introduction: Living Well in the West Midlands

bWell Birmingham is part of the successful £6.8 million bid to the Big Lottery Fund, called Living Well in the west Midlands, which was presented to the Lottery via the West Midlands Regional Assembly.

The aim of Living Well in the West Midlands is to launch innovative projects to promote mental wellbeing, physical activity, healthy food and nutrition across the whole region.
This will be achieved by bringing together representatives from the public, private, voluntary and community sectors to provide the economic and social support needed for their success.

From February 2008, there are currently 31 projects which will be led by the 14 Top Tier Local Authorities. These encompass a wide range of partnership arrangements including a diverse mix of large and small Voluntary Sector Organisations (VSOs), Public Service Agencies such as Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), Police and the Fire Service.
