Many causes of foot pain are entirely preventable. Almost every cause falls under one of the following categories:

High- Impact Exercise:

High-Impact Exercise, such as running, can injure the feet and cause pain. Finding another kind of aerobic exercise can help allevaite this pain almost immediately.

Ill-Fitting Shoes:

Shoes that fit poorly are a very common cause of foot pain and this cause is entirely preventable.Avoiding ill-fitting shoes, especially high heels, can help with foot pain

Certain Medical Conditions:

Any medical condition that impacts the way in which you walk can cause foot pain.This can include spinal problems and diabetes.

Several of the most common causes of foot pain such as bunions, ingrown toenails, corns and calluses, flat feet, abnormally high arches, taral tunnel syndrome, and hammertoes can be managed using several treatment options.


Some of the most common options for treatment and prevention are as follows:

1. Wear supportive shoes. There are a vareity of shoe types that can help alleviate pain in the foot, depending on the cause of the pain. For example, if you experience corns or calluses, you should be sure not to wear shoes that are too tight or too loose. And you should always wear thick socks so as to absorb pressure.

2. Use pain relievers for pain related injuries. You can also ice the area to alleviate any swelling and diminish some of the pain symptoms. Elevating the feet can also help take some of the pressure off, alleviating some pain.

3. Use orthotics when necessary.

4. Surgery is often an option for several causes of chronic foot pain, such as bunions. While surgery is not always the idea solution, it has been touted as working for several conditions that cause chronic and severe foot pain.

Risk Factors

Keeping yourself at the lowest risk possible for developing painful feet is the first step in prevention. The most common risk factors are as follows:

1. Age. Older people are at a higher risk of developing painful feet.

2. Gender. Women develop painful feet more frequently than men. It is possibel that high heeled shoes are the reason for this discrepancy.

3. Weight Gain. Gaining weight or carrying around too much weight can add pressure to the feet.

4. Sports and Dancing. High impact on the feet can cause additional pain.

5. Pregnancy. This can cause additional pain on the feet because of the added weight. There is often also a great deal of swelling in the legs and feet during pregnancy.
